E<\/span>arlier in this series, we emphasized the crucial role of a wife\u2019s submission for a true joining to occur in marriage. As a woman, it is vital not to manipulate your husband to bend to your will.<\/p>\n

If you feel your husband lacks the maturity necessary for marriage, support him in remaining under the guidance of a pastor whose wisdom and judgment you trust.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Remember, God has not given you headship over him. Even if your husband gets born-again today while you have been a believer for ten years, he is still your head. Encourage him to seek mentorship from a pastor to whom you also submit.<\/p>\n

Throughout my years of pastoring, I have pastored many sisters whom I have trained. Some have married men who are spiritually less mature, and I have made it clear that I would need to adjust my relationship with them. They often questioned why, and I explained that since the husband is the head, I would relate to them as I did with the sisters when they were single. This way, the husbands would be encouraged to grow spiritually. Typically, when the marriage is aligned correctly, the men rise to take spiritual leadership within six months. However, if they marry incorrectly, these men can become spiritually stagnant.<\/p>\n

If a husband is not actively pursuing spiritual headship\u2014no matter how busy he may be\u2014the wife may face challenges. Yet, when the marriage is built on the right principles, it won\u2019t be long before the husband begins to assume his rightful place as the spiritual leader of the home.<\/p>\n
