Y<\/span>ou can be given the gift of diverse kinds of tongues by the Holy Spirit but that does not stop or interfere with your prayer language. You don\u2019t operate the gift of diverse kinds of tongues yourself, but you speak your prayer language yourself. Please, cross-reference Acts 2:4 with 1 Corinthians 12:11.<\/p>\n

Acts 2:4
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.<\/em><\/p>\n

1 Corinthians 12:11
11 But all these\u00a0worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.<\/em><\/p>\n

Paul warned against the indiscriminate use of the gift of diverse kinds of tongues but not against the prayer language. In connection with the prayer language, Paul said in 1 Corinthians 14:18, \u201cI thank my God, I speak with tongues more than you all;\u201d<\/p>\n

However, in connection with the gift of diverse kinds of tongues, he says in 1 Corinthians 14:27 that \u201cIf any man speaks in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.\u201d You can see that he is talking about the tongue that needs interpretation which is the gift of diverse kinds of tongues. The prayer language needs no such. According to 1 Corinthians 14:2, \u201cFor he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but to God: FOR NO MAN UNDERSTANDETH HIM; HOWBEIT, IN THE SPIRIT HE SPEAKETH MYSTERIES (emphasis mine).\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Just because you are not supposed to understand it does not mean it is nonsense. I don\u2019t understand German but that does not make it nonsense. A look at the book of Acts of the Apostles will show you that every member of the Early Church spoke with tongues when they were baptised with the Holy Spirit (Act. 2:4; 10:44-46; 19:5-6).<\/p>\n
