C<\/span>ertainly not! Just because you don\u2019t understand a language does not make it any less a language of your spirit. The only difference is that you learn English like other languages, but you do not learn tongues.<\/p>\n

1 Corinthians 14:2-3
2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. <\/em>
3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort\u201d. <\/em><\/p>\n

According to the referenced scriptures, you are not supposed to, nor are you expected to understand the language with your understanding. That is why it is called an UNKNOWN tongue. If you know it by your understanding, it would no more be unknown. It is the language of your spirit. Except God grants you the interpretation of your prayer in tongues, you should not bother about trying to figure it out.<\/p>\n

The fact that you don\u2019t understand how a refrigerator operates electrically does not mean you should not drink cold water, does it?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Some people receive just a few syllables of the language initially and get discouraged. Don\u2019t be! Continue to speak the few syllables and trust God for an enlarged vocabulary.<\/p>\n

The fact that you have tried to speak in tongues and have not yet succeeded does not mean you should accept that as the norm for your experience. Remember that your experience does not prove the word of God true or false. Rather, the word of God either proves or disproves your experience.<\/p>\n
