There are only two systems of speech operating in the earth: the words of the devil and the words of God. As a believer, God expects your words to always align with His. That is how your life can be directed and controlled by heaven. The moment you speak words that contradict God, you step into dangerous terrain, and the devil is always waiting on the other side of disobedience. When God calls a believer to agreement with Him, He is not just asking for silence—He is demanding verbal alignment. Every statement you make either opens or closes doors in the spirit.
You must learn how to put the right words on your lips, especially when situations look contrary.
Take for instance the common statement in Nigeria that certain roads are “death traps.” While this may sound like a harmless observation, it is a confession that carries weight in the realm of the spirit. As a Christian, you must refuse to speak like the world. Yes, the roads may be bad, but don’t call them death traps—speak what God says. Say, “I will pass in safety, for the Lord is my Shepherd.” If you keep saying death is on the road, don’t be surprised if that’s what eventually manifests. You must never agree with people’s fear-based narratives. Instead, you should boldly speak the Word of God, declaring safety, direction, and provision—even in a chaotic system.
The Bible says in Matthew 16:19 that we have been given the keys of the kingdom, and whatever we bind or loose on earth is backed up in heaven. That means we have the authority to allow or disallow things with our mouths. Many believers, by careless confessions, have bound themselves to fear, poverty, sickness, and confusion. You must understand that your words are spiritual forces—they are like cheques you are writing into your life. Find what the Word of God says concerning any area of your life and begin to speak it. Personalise it, meditate on it, and confess it until your atmosphere changes. God is committed to bringing His Word to pass, but He is also waiting for your mouth to agree with Him.
THOUGHT TO PONDER: Are you speaking according to God’s Word or echoing the world’s fear? Have you taken responsibility for the spiritual authority in your mouth?
Lord, I cancel every wrong confession I have ever made and declare alignment with Your Word. Purge my lips, and help me to speak life always, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
