10 December 2024: Avoiding Common Pitfalls in Marriage (2) – 1 Timothy 2:13

Today, we will continue with the anomalies to avoid in marriage. It is not the responsibility of mothers to discipline the children or represent authority to them. One of the core duties of a mother is to represent care to the children. As a mother, avoid playing the role of a disciplinarian at home. It is the responsibility of a father to represent authority to his children and discipline them appropriately. The only situation where a mother can represent authority to the children is in a case where the father is absent.

A father should be able to get the children’s obedience by telling them to stop any wrongdoing. If they refuse, then it means as a mother, you are disrespecting their father in their presence. Don’t make the mistake of disobeying your husband in the presence of your children.

Mothers should know that they destroy their children by not submitting to their father in their presence.

That is raising future destruction against yourself as a mother.

Ignoring divine formation and processes – In 1 Timothy 2:13, the Bible says Adam was first formed, then Eve. I believe that this is God’s pattern. God wants to form a man by taking him through a process to become the leader at home. A deviation from this pattern is what makes a man to become a tyrant and commanding officer at home. God wants to work on the husband, get him to a place that his wife can respect him, and every man must allow God to form him.

PRAYER: Lord, I submit to the process you have assigned to form me. I choose to align with it to become all that you want me to be.
