27 March 2026: MERCY PREVENTS WHAT YOU NEVER SAW COMING – Psalm 121:7–8; Isaiah 54:17

One of the quietest yet most powerful expressions of God’s mercy is prevention. Many people only thank God for what He delivered them from, but few recognise what He prevented them from encountering. Scripture assures us that the Lord shall preserve you from all evil and keep your going out and coming in (Psalm 121:7–8). That preservation is mercy at work ahead of time. Mercy does not always wait for danger to show itself; it intercepts it. Long before you prayed, fasted, or cried for help, mercy was already arranging protection around your life.

The enemy often plans ambushes that never manifest because mercy disarms them quietly. Isaiah records God’s assurance that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Notice that the weapon is formed, but its effectiveness is neutralised. Mercy does not always stop the weapon from being designed; it stops it from succeeding. Many believers are alive today not because they were wiser, faster, or stronger, but because mercy blocked doors they desperately wanted opened and delayed journeys they were eager to take.

What felt like inconvenience was actually preservation.

Your responsibility today is to trust God even when you do not understand His restraints. When plans collapse suddenly or access is denied without explanation, resist frustration. Mercy may be preventing an unseen disaster. Do not judge God’s faithfulness only by what He allows; recognise it also in what He withholds. Gratitude for prevention deepens trust and quiets anxiety about the future. As you continue this walk, remember this truth: mercy is always working ahead of you. You are not exposed, unguarded, or vulnerable. God’s mercy is actively preserving your life, blocking unseen dangers, and ensuring that your steps remain ordered until purpose is fulfilled.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Have I recognised God’s mercy in the doors that never opened? How can trusting God’s preventive mercy change my response to disappointment?

PRIÈRE: Father, thank You for Your mercy that preserves and protects me. Help me to trust You fully, even when I do not understand Your restraints, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
