16 February 2026: A SOUL IS TOO EXPENSIVE TO IGNORE – Matthew 16:26; 1 Timothy 1:15

Jesus asked a question that should awaken us: what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? (Matthew 16:26 KJV) That means a man can “make it” and still miss it. He can gather money, applause, and positions, yet be broke where it matters most. So don’t be deceived by packaging: behind every face you meet is a soul that will live somewhere forever. When you don’t see the value of a soul, evangelism becomes an optional extra, something you do when your schedule is kind. But when your eyes open, you begin to feel God’s heartbeat: one soul is not a small matter. If heaven can value a soul, you must not treat people like interruptions. Men labour for what perishes and forget eternity; the gospel must matter to you.

Evangelism is simply telling the good news: the gospel of peace. It is not argument and grammar; it is good news that brings freedom. And the good news is this: Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners. That statement destroys pride, because it means the best of men still needed saving, and the worst of men is not beyond saving. It also corrects your attitude: the man you are talking to is not rubbish; he is someone God values. Sin may have messed up his life, but it didn’t cancel the price God was willing to pay. Peace is deliverance from sin’s grip and separation from God, so don’t present it like a casual suggestion. Speak with love; don’t be insulting; don’t talk down on people. When you honour a soul, you keep the door open for the message.

Practise soul-conscious living from today.

As you step into your day, ask God to make you see people as souls, not as obstacles: at work, in the market, on your phone, even at home. Refuse to be too busy for eternity. Pick one person and intentionally sow the gospel seed: a simple question, a short testimony, a clear invitation to receive Christ. Respect their will but press lovingly for a decision while the heart is open. When someone responds, don’t drop him: take his name, pray, call, and connect him to fellowship until he can stand, because a soul is too expensive to treat like a statistic.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Do I see people as souls with eternal value, or as interruptions I avoid? Who will I speak to and follow up today, treating their destiny as serious?

PRIÈRE: Father, open my eyes to the worth of souls. Fill me with love and boldness to present Christ, and help me follow up well, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
