Jesus did not say the harvest is small; He said, “the harvest truly is plenteous (Matthew 9:37 KJV).” The problem is not the availability of souls; it is the availability of labourers. And let me be clear: I do not mean Christians are few: no! But labourers are few. Many believers have become spectators: they clap when they hear evangelism testimonies, yet they never open their mouth for Jesus outside the church wall. Meanwhile, the streets are full, the offices are full, the campuses are full, and people are perishing. Some places have heard the gospel once and nobody returned; don’t keep circling the already saved. If every believer develops a vision for the harvest and decides to contribute his quota, many “hard” places will suddenly become easy. Jesus left no one out when He commanded that we should go; He didn’t reserve it for the extrovert or the “evangelism people.” God is raising soul harvesters; why don’t you enlist now?
“I must work… while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” There is a “day” for a man and a “day” for a city: open doors that do not stay open forever. Tomorrow may be too late, and conviction does not remain hot forever. People you keep postponing may be in the grave before your next convenient moment. If you wait for a perfect mood and a perfect schedule, you will never go; soul winning is obedience in season and out of season. Don’t let your heart be comfortable while your neighbour is on the edge of eternity.
The time is short, and heaven is counting on willing hands, not excuses.
So enlist deliberately and practically. There will always be a method that suits you well: person to person witness, tracts, books and literature, care, social functions, even a simple invitation that opens a door for the Word. Choose one and give yourself to it. Fix soul winning into your schedule like prayer; if it is not planned, it will be postponed. Pair up if you are timid, fire spreads faster in company. Start with two names: pray for them, reach out, and bring the gospel with love and clarity. When God gives you a soul, don’t drop him: follow up, connect him to fellowship, and help him grow. If you will show up as a labourer, God will keep sharpening you for more.
THOUGHT TO PONDER: Am I a Christian only, or a labourer too? What one soul-winning action will I schedule and obey this week?
PRIÈRE: Lord, put Your burden on me and make me a faithful labourer who wins souls and makes disciples, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
