After becoming genuinely born again and going through basic discipleship, the next major Bible experience you need is to be baptised in the Holy Spirit. All it takes to live a fulfilled and effective Christian life is to be yielded to and follow the Holy Spirit. Many Christians love God, love church and love good preaching, yet they struggle because they are trying to live the Christian life in their own strength. Every child of God has the Holy Spirit in a measure at new birth, but you will not experience much of the miraculous without a proper Bible baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Jesus said, Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses. That power is not for decoration. It is for fruit, for boldness and for effective living in a hostile world.
You must understand that speaking in tongues is the Bible evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. This is not a doctrine we invented to make people feel spiritual. Check the scriptures. In Mark sixteen the Lord spoke of believers speaking with new tongues. In Acts chapter two the disciples were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. In Acts chapter ten the household of Cornelius received the Holy Ghost and spoke with tongues. In Acts chapter nineteen the disciples at Ephesus were filled and spoke with tongues and prophesied. It will be difficult for you to prove from the Bible a claim to Holy Ghost baptism without the accompanying sign of speaking with tongues. This experience is the will and promise of the Father to you. Jesus said if we, being evil, know how to give good gifts to our children, how much more shall the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him. So the steps are simple. Ask the Lord Jesus in faith to baptise you with the Holy Spirit. Receive the baptism by faith. Thank God for it as a present gift, not a future promise.
Then open your mouth and begin to pray in tongues as the Holy Spirit gives you utterance, not in your head but from your spirit.
I want you to settle this matter in 2026. Praying in tongues is one of the main ways you service your vital union with Christ and keep your spirit tuned to the programmes of your future. It edifies you, builds you up, charges your inner man and helps you pray accurately beyond your understanding. Do not be ashamed of it and do not relegate it to an occasional religious exercise. If you are truly born again and yet you have not been baptised in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues, make up your mind that you will not remain at that level. If you already have this experience, how deliberately and consistently are you using your prayer language to build your spirit and partner with the Holy Ghost for a truly fruitful life.
PRIÈRE: Lord Jesus, baptise me afresh with the Holy Ghost and fire, and help me to use the gift of tongues daily so I can live a powerful and fruitful Christian life. Amen.
