18 August 2025: AN ACCURATE DEFINITION OF FAITH (II) – Hebrews 11:7-11, Matthew 12:41–44

Let us continue from where we stopped yesterday. Noah, not having seen rain before, believed God’s warning about a coming flood and began to build an ark. He didn’t know what rain looked like, yet he obeyed and never stopped building. That’s the God-kind of faith. Likewise, when Jesus observed the poor widow who cast in two mites—all she had—into the offering, He commended her because she gave in faith, trusting God as her provider. These are expressions of the faith that comes from God. Romans 12:3 tells us that everyone who is born again has received this measure of faith. You already have it — it’s your responsibility to grow and use it.

Fear is nothing more than faith in the devil’s ability.

There are believers who believe more in the devil’s power to hinder than in God’s power to help. That’s why God said in Psalm 23:5, “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.” If you focus more on the enemies than the One who set the table, fear will rob you of your blessing. The God-kind of faith is what makes you sit confidently at that table, knowing that no enemy can touch you while God is with you. It is trusting God in spite of what surrounds you—eating your portion in peace while your enemies look on helplessly.

This God-kind of faith operates in two dimensions: sometimes you believe without any physical evidence, like Abraham believing for a child when he had none; and other times, you must believe against physical evidence—like believing for healing when symptoms persist. Abraham believed God’s promise in the face of the deadness of Sarah’s womb and his own old age. Likewise, you must believe against the contradictions you see or feel in your body, your finances, or your environment. This is how faith triumphs—when it holds on to God’s Word regardless of what is seen, felt, or heard.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Are you holding on to God’s Word even when physical evidence suggests otherwise? Do you believe more in God’s ability to help you than in the enemy’s power to hinder?

Father, thank You again for the God-kind of faith. I believe I am all You say I am, and I have all You say I have, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
