Your spiritual journey must be marked by a strong desire for personal intimacy with the Holy Spirit. Do not build your Christian life on another person’s relationship with God. There is a difference between hearing, “The Lord told me to tell you…” and the Lord speaking to you directly. What God tells you by Himself becomes a stronghold of conviction and stability in your life, producing a faith that is immovable and clear. The strength of your spiritual walk is not in how many sermons you have heard or how many preachers you admire, but in how deeply you’ve cultivated your relationship with the Holy Spirit and the Scriptures for yourself.
In the Kingdom of God, there is no second-hand intimacy.
We are all sons of the same Father, and every son must personally build his relationship with the Father. A direct word from God carries a unique weight—it strengthens your inner man and gives you stamina to stand against pressure. However, spiritual laziness can rob you of this privilege. A believer who does not spend time in fellowship with the Word and with the Holy Spirit will find it hard to discern divine instructions or even trust God’s leading. In these last days when the authenticity of the Bible is under attack and some leaders are falling into error, your only anchor will be your personal walk with God. Without that, you’ll be tossed about by the confusion in the world.
When you truly know the God you serve, external storms won’t affect you. You’ll see headlines about pastors falling, but you will not be shaken because your faith wasn’t built on any man; it was built on Christ. It is important to always remember that when you gave your life to Jesus, you didn’t accept a pastor — you accepted the Saviour. That foundation must remain unshakable. If you are feeling discouraged today, this is your cue to return to the place of personal intimacy. Open your Bible. Spend time in prayer. Let the Holy Spirit speak to you again. Nothing substitutes that. Your faith will only thrive when it’s tied to your personal revelation of God.
THOUGHT TO PONDER: Is your faith tied to God Himself or to the spiritual life of others? How can you practically strengthen your personal intimacy with God daily?
Lord, I commit afresh to deeper intimacy with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
