Getting our priorities right is a very critical issue in life. Setting your priorities simply means that you arrange or organize the needs of your life in a particular order starting from the most important one to the least important. A man who fails in this area of life will end up spending a lot of his resources on the MINOR things in life and just a little of his resources on the MAJOR issues of life. Jesus tells us in the book of Matthew what should be top most on our priority list.

At this point, I want you to ask yourself these questions:

1. How deep is my spiritual relationship with God?

2. Is God really first on my priority list?

3. What practical measures are in place in my life for maintaining a sound relationship with God?

These are issues that you must attend to diligently and with a great sense of commitment. The problem with this generation is that to a large extent they have lightly esteemed the things of God. They may look simple and ridiculous but they are life to those that find them. I am very sure that you have heard these questions many times before but have you ever sincerely answered them and made amends where necessary in your life? The value you place on a relationship determines the resources you devote to it and subsequently the benefits you derive from it. At this point you may be wondering why you have to make out quality time for God. Why can't you just pray when you want and do all your spiritual activities at your convenience? Jesus said,

“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” John 15:5

Your ticket to success in life is embedded in that verse. I want you to know that it is critical to have a sound spiritual relationship with God. For example, when students sit for examinations they have instructions for each paper and sometimes they are expected to use a particular method to solve a particular problem even though there are many methods with which that problem can be solved. The teacher specifies the method he expects the student to use. Now if a student uses a different method but gets the correct answer, he will still fail that paper because he did not follow the instructions given. The same thing applies to the verse above. It says the only way to have a fulfilled life is through Jesus, “The Way”. Everything you do outside him no matter how beautiful is nothing!

Prayer: Father, I renew my love and connection to you today. I choose to continually abide in you and please you in my journey to destiny in Jesus’ name. Amen.
