SEPARATION FOR THE BEST (1) [Hebrews 11:23-26, Matthew 4:1-11]

No matter who you are, there is a best of God for you. Sometimes, you separate from the good, from the better, from the nice, from error and from the alternative unto the best. If you are going to have the best that God has for you, you must be separated from every alternative to the best. I told myself long ago, “Lord, I’m not settling for second-best. I will go for the best that you have for me. Whatever the price is, I’m going to pay it.” The devil will offer you all kinds of counterfeit alternatives.

There’s a best of God for you but the devil has all kinds of alternatives. The devil senses the destiny that God has for you. He told Moses to take the throne of Egypt and Moses said, “Not me and you.” He told Jesus, “You don’t have go to the cross. Just bow down and worship me and I will give you.”, and Jesus said: “No, I want the best.” When Joseph was in Potiphar’s house, Potiphar’s wife came to him and asked him to be her acting husband. Joseph could have ended his journey as an acting husband but Joseph knew what he saw - “I saw the throne and it doesn’t look like this place.” Will you wait for the best that God has for you? That is one of the greatest problems of the human race: We settle for lesser than. Patience is the weapon of the spirit you need when your flesh is dealing with the passage of time because your flesh is not gifted to deal effectively with the passage of time.

PRAYER: Lord, I pray for grace to handle the passage of time and not settle for anything lesser than you have planned for me in Jesus’ name. Amen!
