Your worship must lead to practical obedience. You cannot say you are a true worshipper of the Lord if you continue in disobedience to God’s word or His direct instructions. God told the children of Israel to rend their hearts and not their clothes. He said in Matthew 15:8 “This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.” The kind of worship that God is seeking goes beyond spouting words from your lips, your pious dressing or how you carry your Bible. God’s priority is what is happening to your heart?
Several years ago, a pastor made a list of prospective leaders and God told him to delete the name of the person he put first on that list. When the pastor asked why, since he thought this was a faithful sister, God told him that He had given the lady some instructions that she had not obeyed for over 11 years. Dear reader, when you don’t obey the Lord, you are not a true worshipper and you are simply lifting up your hands and singing in disobedience.
The lifting up of hands and singing is accepted ONLY AFTER you have done what God prioritizes as worship. Your obedience is more important to God than any form of singing you can do.
PRAYER: Lord, help my life. Reveal every outstanding instruction I haven’t obeyed.Deliver me from every trace of disobedience in Jesus’ name.
