True and genuine love does not compromise. Love is not seen in condoning misbehaviour. Compromise can never come when there is true love. When someone reduces standards or indulges you, you are tempted to think of that action as love but it is just unhealthy emotionalism. Anyone who excludes you from discipline or indulges you by lowering the standards of excellence for you, does not love you. Such a person will make you a mediocre in life and you may turn out poorly for God’s program for your.
True love is what we see when God corrects misbehaviour. The Agape love of God gives you unconditional acceptance, corrects and changes you to become better day by day until you become an excellent person in life.
Eli compromised Godly standards for his sons by not restraining them (I Samuel 3:13). Prophet Samuel also had the same weakness with his sons. Eli’s sons were eventually killed the same day because of their father’s compromise with them. The true love of God never compromises standards. No wonder Jesus said, “If you love your father or mother more than me, you are not worthy of me.” Christ wants us to love people through his eyes, only then will we not compromise godly standards.
Looking at the story of the rich young man who came to Jesus, the scripture says “... and Jesus looking at him loved him.” Jesus loved him enough to tell him, “Go, sell all that you have. Give it to the poor and come and follow me.” but the man didn’t get it, he went away sorrowfully yet Jesus didn’t change his mind or compromise the standard.
Elijah must have loved Elisha when he said, “Ask me whatever you want and you will get it.” Yet, the standard was, “See me when I am being taken away,” no compromise! Don’t allow men who compromise standards and indulge you reduce you to a mediocre and failure in life. LOVE DOES NOT EQUAL COMPROMISE.sacrifice, yet you should search out the 2 hours 24 minutes you owe God daily and spend it with Him. He will bless you.
