What we found out about the bible is that the bible does not paper over the fault or failure of the heroes of the bible. This is so that we can learn from their lives and grow. The bible says those things that happened to them and were recorded are for our learning and education as we pursue destiny in our own day (I cor. 10:11).
I believe those pursing destiny in these last days have no excuse to fail because the people that we are reading about in the bible didn’t have the copy of the bible like we do. They didn’t have the baptism of the Holy Spirit which we do, yet you found out that they seemed stronger than the people in these last days, why? The reason is because we are not learning the right lessons that we must learn from their lives.
Judges 13: 1 “And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years”
A lot of times in the Old Testament you find the phrase, “in the sight of the Lord”. Something may be evil in the sight of God and not evil in the sight of men. If you are going to survive as a believer, one of the first things you must ask is how does this look to God and not how does it look to men. In life, many things might look alright before men but completely different to God and there will be something good to God but seems very bad to men and if you balance and understand this difference, you will be on your way to greatness with God.
Notice that greatness with men does not produce greatness with God but greatness with God will eventually produce greatness with men. For example, if you don’t come to church on Sunday, to you and the people around you it may not be that evil but it may be very terrible before the Lord for you. Therefore, you must find out how your action looks before God. This is one of the lessons you must learn if you will make it as a believer, especially if you are in a leadership circle. Also, note that no evil can befall you except you do things that make it impossible for God to preserve you.
PRAYER: Lord, I receive your grace to take heed to my life and learn the right lessons that I must learn according to the examples you have set before me in your word in Jesus’ name. Amen.
