“……….For he has rescued us from all that is really evil and called us to a life of holiness—not because of any of our achievements but for his own purpose. Before time began he planned to give us in Christ the grace to achieve this purpose, but it is only since our savior Jesus Christ has been revealed that the method has become apparent. For Christ has completely abolished death, and has now, through the Gospel, opened to us men the shining possibilities of the life that is eternal…..” (2Tim 1:9-10 Phillips)
When eternal life comes into your spirit, it brings possibilities, one of which is the possibility of holy living. Holiness is living in conformity to the divine will and it is not possible without the divine life. Every life form issues out in a manifestation, for instance, hunting is a manifestation of the life of a lion. There is an expression or manifestation of the divine life and it is the eternal life.
As a Christian, the life of God is supposed to have an expression in your life in a way that is consistent with divine nature and standard. For instance, you can’t be a Christian who dresses consistently in a wrong way and the Spirit of God in you will not react against it. You can’t consistently talk to your wife in a wrong way even though your title is changing from brother, to steward, to pastor and the spirit of God in you doesn’t convict you. If you don’t feel convicted, then something is wrong somewhere! You definitely don’t have the life.
The eternal life will grow inside you and bring you into conformity with divine will. You must not be a Christian who dabbles in sin and then pretends to live a holy life. Sin covers the eternal life in you like a shade over a light causing the light to become dim. The bible describes such a Christian as, “being alive but dead.” Is there an area of your life that you need to allow eternal life to reign and have its full course in? Have you come to the awareness of this divine nature in you so as to live and manifest it everywhere you find yourself? If the satanic life and the flesh will not dominate and rule your life, then it is time to yield to the eternal life of God in you.
